NISSAN R35 GT-R AT JAPFEST
The new GT-R will be on display & on track
The R35 GT-R is the performance car the world has been waiting for, ever since the GT-R Concept was unveiled at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show. Engineered to take on and beat the very best including Porsche, it will launch from a standstill to 62mph in just 3.6sec. Porsche claims 3.7sec for the 997 Turbo S. Other challenges Nissan set itself included beating the 911 Turbo’s time around the Nordschleife, which the GT-R has done with a 7 minute 38 second lap, 2 seconds faster than the Porsche.

Nissan's VR38DETT is a brand new engine specially developed for the GT-R. The 3.8 litre unit uses twin IHI turbochargers and features plasma coated bores to aid cool cooling and increase efficiency. The claimed output of 473bhp makes it the most powerful production car ever built by Nissan.

“This is one of the finest, most engaging and desirable cars I’ve driven in ages, a car with a seemingly endless range of ground-covering abilities. Top speed is a supercar-rivalling 193mph. The gearchange is lightning quick and clean, and those big Brembo brakes are quite brilliant. They’re the best brakes on any production car and Japanese homologation tests say the same. Independent dyno tests saw an impressive 520bhp on BP Ultimate 102 unleaded.”
Ben Linney, owner of the UK’s first R35 GT-R
