JAPFEST 2009 OFFICIAL SHOW REPORT
2009 was another huge success for Japfest, with thousands of Jap car fans flocking to Castle Combe circuit. Despite a cloudy and damp start to the day, attendance was up yet again making this the busiest Japfest to date.
Once again Redline Magazine were on hand with their Power Paddock displaying some of the finest performance tuned road cars in the UK. There was something for everyone, from ex-cover cars such as Ben Gillespie’s R34 GT-t Skyline, to Hayden King’s stunning track Evo, and not forgetting a brace of tuned Nissan GT-Rs.
Elsewhere, the club stands were packed with quality, well-tuned cars with all of the manufacturers well represented. The variety of trade stands also underlined that the Jap tuning scene is in great shape.
But the highlight for many was the track action. From standard road cars, to full-on trackday specials, the fast Wiltshire circuit was busy all day. And with all of the available track time sold out in advance, the crowds were kept entertained throughout the day with some heroic (and some less heroic) driving antics. With a damp track there were bound to be a few incidents, but some dented panels was about the worst we saw!

The JDM drift demos were also a massive crowd pleaser, apart from Dan Chapman having a bit of a meeting with the tyre wall in his Driftworks PS13! Fortunately the car isn't written off and we hope to see him back in action soon. Alex Khateeb was also out on track in his orange Nissan S15, giving competition winners flat-out passenger rides. He still holds the lap record for the circuit in an F3 single seater, and his pure speed and knowledge of the track were clear to see as he went past everyone else.
Huge thanks to all those who attended, we'll be back bigger and better for 2010. And special thanks to all of our sponsors including Sky Insurance, Millers Oils, Rare Rims, Merguiar’s, Driftworks, Hel and Redline Magazine. See you next year!
