Castle Combe once again played host the orimental action, and the Wiltshire circuit was transformed into a small corner of Japan. Things got off to a flyer with track time sold out way in advance, and a huge range of cars were put through their paces on the testing track. With fantastic views all round the circuit, but especially at Quarry, Camp Corner and the Esses, thousands sat back to get some sun and watch the action.

Drift Train Spectacular

Talking of action, the Maxxis British Drift Championship display was one of the best yet. Brand new for 2012 was the BDC Drift Train. Over 20 cars hit the track together, rather than one at a time, which made for a spectacular sight as they piled into Quarry one after the other sideways. All three classes hit the track and with pride at stake in front of one of the biggest crowds of the season, the drivers were pushing hard.

After some spins, mechanical failures and a few battle scars, the biggest crowd pleaser was when the Japspeed cars almost came together right in front of everyone at Quarry. Fortunately, some skilled driving saved the day.

As ever, the crowds could get up close to the drift cars in the pits and even chat to the drivers, which is all part of what makes Japfest such a friendly show. Big thanks to everyone at the Maxxis British Drift Championship for yet another cracking display. But that wasn’t the end of it.

Redbrick Racing Honda Passenger Rides

Redbrick Racing brought along their ‘04 BTCC-spec Honda Civics for white knuckle passenger rides for a lucky few. These guys drove their tyres off all day, and their stunning, 1000bhp Evo also drew massive crowds.

Power & Style Awards

The Power & Style Awards, in association with SFS Performance, attracted a record number of entrants, all eager to take away a set of cool silicone hoses. Everything from freshly styled rides, to performance-tuned metal made the effort; with the £150 prize and place in the SFS ad campaign going to Aims Hill with her Honda S2000. One thing’s for sure, the Jap car scene is producing more exciting and innovative cars then ever before.

With more people arriving to purchase a ticket on the gate than ever before, the amount of event traffic increased and that meant that unfortunately some of you were stuck in queues for longer than usual on your journey to Castle Combe Circuit. Due to unforeseen traffic congestion the police took steps to close the roads at around 3pm. This was something we had to take the Police’s guidance on and we empathise with anyone who got turned away from the event at this stage in the day and extend our sympathy for everyone that waited in a queue of traffic on the way into Japfest 2012.

There are already discussions going ahead and plans being put in place to prevent this happening again in future years. Last year 97 clubs and over 3000 cars packed into every available inch of Castle Combe for your viewing pleasure so expect to find a vast and varied display, from pristine classics, incredible modified show cars, track day cars and rare Japanese imports!

10th anniversary cavalcade

To commemorate its 10th Anniversary, Japfest will be celebrating with its most loyal and supportive car clubs who have attended all, or most, years since Japfest began in 2003. These clubs will take pride of place in the central paddock and will be invited to take part in a cavalcade finale at 16:30.

Fast Cars Culture Corner

Fast Car return to Japfest, bringing with them more Japanese flavour than a blowfish sami with extra wasabi! From the high-performance to the down-right bonkers they’ve got the lot purely for your viewing pleasure.

All-day Track action

Japfest track time sold out in record time, which means the track will be jam-packed with action, all-day! Whether your fave spot to watch is Quarry or Camp corner, there will always be something going on to tickle your fancy.

Packed retail village

Need a part for your car? Chances are you will find it within the Japfest Retail Village! Sandwiched between the track action and 1000’s of club cars, the Retail Village is packed with everything and anything you could need for your car.

Grab your goodie bag!

Japfest will be giving away free goodie bags to anyone who signs up to our newsletter, so make sure you grab a bag from the girls walking around the site, or the Fast Car stand.

Free Kids entertainment!

There is plenty to keep the kids entertained at Japfest on top of the great track action running throughout the day. Pop the kids on the free bouncy castles and everyone will be happy – making Japfest a great family day out!

About Tickets for Troops

Tickets for Troops is a registered charity that provides free tickets to musical, sporting, entertainment and cultural events for members of our Armed Forces as a mark of the country’s appreciation for their service.  Since the charities launch in 2009, over 290,000 tickets have been donated and over 110,000 troops have signed up to the scheme.

All serving members of Her Majesties Forces and those who have been medically discharged since the commencement of military action in Afghanistan in 2001 are eligible to register for Tickets for Troops. Depending on popularity tickets are allocated either on a first come, first serve basis or by entering into a ballot.

The Honda Civics – including both 2004 Team Dynamics cars which were formally driven by double BTCC champion Matt Neal and team mate Dan Eaves in early 2010 – are now owned and raced by Redbrick Racing.

The cars are fitted with tuned Honda Civic Type R engines along with the accompanying six speed modified gearboxes. They currently run the full BTCC running gear and remain in original spec and are being raced in their original liveries. The aim from the offset was to keep the cars as close to original spec as possible and this is what us motorsport fans like to see!

With drivers on board this year such as tin top racer Max Coates and Alice Powell the cars are currently being raced in such series as the Honda VTEC Challenge and European Time Attack and are eligible for series such as Euro salons.

This really is the ultimate thrill experience and for just £30 you’d be mad to miss out on it.
